I Always Wanted That!

Recently I took the time to transfer our family VHS videos to DVD. Fun job, NOT! But it was necessary. As I meticulously prepared the tapes for conversion, that is putting them in chronological order, I started the process. As each tape was converted I found myself glued to the TV watching our past come to life once again.
Several scenes stood out, one of which was a Christmas video featuring my first two children, Joey and Jenny. Joey was about 5 at the time and as the video rolled he is seen in front of a massive pile of gifts ready to be ripped open. I guess that is not such an unusual seen in the northeast.
What was unusual was that every time Joey opened a gift he would declare, "I always wanted this". After he said this he would toss the gift off to the side to explore the next. The seen would continue until the pile was reduced to crumbled wrapping paper.
Truth is he rarely played with some of the stuff "he really wanted". Good lesson for us. While the pressures of living in the northeast and keeping up with the Jones' can be overwhelming the reality is we really need so little.
Just a thought: What would life be like if we were satisfied with everything God has given us?
